Renowned actor and model Mukul Dev passed away at the age of 54 in New Delhi on Friday. The cause of his sudden demise remains unknown at this time. His brother, actor Rahul Dev, confirmed the heartbreaking news through an official statement on Instagram on Saturday.
Rahul shared that Mukul “passed away peacefully” and that the cremation would be held later in the evening at Dayanand Mukti Dham in Delhi.
“Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully at New Delhi last night. He’s survived by his daughter Sia Dev. Missed by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev and nephew Sidhant Dev. Please join us for cremation at 5 PM,” the post read.
Mukul Dev was a familiar face across Indian television and cinema. He began his career in the mid-90s and featured in hit TV shows like Gharwali Uparwali, Kasshish, Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai, and Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan. His film credits include Yamla Pagla Deewana, Son of Sardaar, R… Rajkumar, and Jai Ho.
His final on-screen appearance will be in the upcoming film Son of Sardaar 2, which is yet to be released.
Tributes poured in from across the entertainment industry, with actors and colleagues mourning his loss.
Actor Vindu Dara Singh, Mukul’s co-star in Son of Sardaar 2, shared a heartfelt message on X: “Rest in peace my brother #MukulDev! The time spent with you will always be cherished and Son of Sardaar 2 will be your swansong where you will spread joy and happiness to the viewers and make them fall down laughing!”
Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who worked with Mukul in Dastak, also shared a moving tribute, posting a black-and-white photo of Mukul and praying for strength for his family.
Mukul Dev is survived by his daughter, siblings, and extended family. He leaves behind a rich legacy of work in Indian entertainment and a deep void in the hearts of his admirers and peers.
